This book has been my obsession for the past 20 months, but the stories in it span the past 30 years. Diving back into the past to pull each one back up to the surface has been fun, and hard, and rewarding, and exhausting.

And now that the book is out in the world? …. It’s honestly a little scary.
But embracing that fear was always the point!
That’s what made horror movies the perfect peg for these stories. It’s easy sometimes to feel like we’re just going through the motions of our routines, but fear disrupts all that. It keeps us on our toes and makes us present, and if you think back on the most formative moments in your life, I bet you were probably pretty terrified (of loss, of change, of the unknown) in each and every one of them.
This book was about stumbling clumsily toward adulthood, trying to figure out what it means to “grow up,” and learning to do so more intentionally. It’s about fighting the urge to observe instead of participate in your own life, and maintaining a dialogue with fear throughout kept these stories facing in the direction of confrontation and (hopefully) personal growth.
Oh, and it’s funny. I said that, right? This is a HUMOR book, people….
I’d love to hear what you think! Please leave a review, however short, online. They go a really long way in helping me reach new readers.
Thanks again!
